2019 Topping Out, Top Ten Award
2018 Greater Dallas Planning Council Built Project Urban Design Award
With a growing millennial population and a proximity to some of the city’s most affluent neighborhoods, The Hill Shopping Center was in prime position for a reinvention. The 16-acre, aging shopping center received a modern and eclectic makeover. Once a very auto-heavy center, Phase I of the project turned the center into a walkable place with a lush native landscape and pockets of amenities for restaurants and retailers. The eco-friendly environment features native grasses, shrubs, and trees, rainwater collection, and water efficient irrigation. The site includes a 25,000 square foot, big box building which stores all of its energy in Tesla’s solar-powered batteries, making it completely off-the-grid. The Hill will also be the first location in the D/FW Metroplex with twelve on-site Tesla super charging stations. Pacheco Koch provided traffic engineering, landscape architecture, civil engineering, and land surveying services.
