DWU Water Utilities Replacement

Location Dallas, Texas Client Dallas Water Utilities
Six years of pipe rehabilitation keeps DWU running smooth.

When 181, 577 linear feet of water and 101,526 linear feet of wastewater main replacements were needed for the DWU water utilities replacement project, they called upon Pacheco Koch to provide civil engineering design and surveying services. The project spanned over six years in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2018, respectively. The rehabilitation involved pipe sizes ranging between 8- and 24-inch water mains and 8- to 30-inch wastewater pipes. Any pipe 50 years or older was designated for replacement, as well as any pipes smaller than eight inches in diameter. Existing cast iron water pipes and vitrified clay wastewater pipes were also chosen for replacement. A variety of construction methods were utilized on these projects, including pipe bursting and trenchless technology. Surveying services included providing legal boundary descriptions and separate instrument easement documents. Christopher Jones served as Project Manager on these assignments.
